A Selfish Post? Maybe.

Today I am sharing an image I took this past week of an outfit and someankle boots I worked on as I try to recreate my store, and actually do...

Cowboy Take Me Away

Admittedly, I am not actually a huge country music fan, which is apparently strange for someone that lives in the Southeast of the US. Oddly enough, that genre appears to be my stronger suit when it comes to singing. Go figure. I just saw all of this in my inventory one day and felt inspired to mess around in Photoshop and (badly) put together another image of myself superimposed over a background after I couldn't find an adequate sim that felt country enough to me or had the fencing I was looking for to stand in front of. If I missed a sim that would have worked, well...oops. Maybe next time.

I was able to figure out a little short story to write up to go along with the image this time, sadly, so here's the image and the credits!

Among the Trees

The breeze gently stirred the leaves lying loose on the ground in a lazy dance, and she placed the candles on the aging altar. For centuries, her family had preserved this place for solitary practice and reflection, and she certainly needed that now. As she stared at the candles, the wicks began to smoke and slowly light, the flames flickering against the breeze. Drawing in a breath, she closed her eyes and held her hands aloft, letting her breath release through her nose, and drew in the breath again, slowly as she focused her energy from her core, visualizing pushing it outward, up her chest and through to her arms. The warmth, the tingling was exhilarating just as it was her first time. There was something soothing about the energy, the raw power surging over and through her body as she formed the image in her mind of the formation of a blue glow along her fingers and palm, taking on the shape of a ball...one hand, then the other. Finally exhaling through her mouth rather than her nose, she opened her eyes and let them adjust to the growing darkness before her, faintly illuminated by the candles and glow from her hands that steadily rose, growing as she released more energy. Lips parting, she spoke what was in her heart, and her troubles, willing ancestors and the collective powers that watched over her to communicate, seeking their wisdom and strength from beyond.

The rumble of thunder rolled overhead, and she felt the first drops of cool, soothing rain on her upturned face..a gentle caress that brought a smile. As the wind picked up, she heard voices of the past whisper around her, and the candle flames danced in protest, joined by the shadow dancers that seemed to be among the trees. Dropping her chin, she stopped speaking, letting the euphony reach her ears as it swelled around her. The power floating above her hands pulsated, providing a low hum amongst the voices, and as the glow grew brighter from the gathering energy surrounding her, she dropped her hands, letting it float. Slowly, the twin balls of light began to encircle her, the pace increasing with each passing, becoming a blur of light around her, and then as the voices reached their climax, the power surged forth with an increasing hum and light that rivaled lightning, marking the trees in its path with a near bio-luminescence before leaving her in darkness as the candles were snuffed out. "Thank you," she whispered as the final voices faded away, lost in the rumbling thunder and pattering of rain. She had her answers, now...she could only hope she was strong enough to carry them out.

2938: Escape From Astraeus Station

She peered around the corner, looking down the corridor. One, two, three....four. Shit. Ducking back out of sight, she brought her hand to rest on the light saber at her side. "Where are you," she hissed in a low tone. The sound of lasers echoed in her earpiece, followed by Altyn snapping at her that they were under heavy fire outside the escape pods. Great. Squaring her shoulders, she unsheathed the saber and peered around the corner again. Seven. Well, this just gets better and better.

    Here goes nothing...
She stepped from her hiding spot, and the armored men turned to look at her, reaching quickly for their weapons. A cry arisen, those with sabers started for her, and the ones with guns opened fire. Tuck and roll. She went down, rolling to dodge bullets, and her shoulders pressed to the floor, using momentum to push herself up, and the saber drew out, the faint blue glow illuminating the hall around her. Slashing at the air, she deflected lasers firing her way, dodging those she missed with a spin, and met her fellow saber-wielders with an echoing crackle, pushing back against one, a leg kicking out to knock another back.

In her ear, she heard the continued battle for the escape pods, and she fought back harder, stepping back with a twirl of her saber before rushing forward, intent on taking down all in her path. One way or another, she would get to her people so they could all escape.

I....Am A Librarian

“Look, I-I may not be an explorer or-or an adventurer or-or a treasure seeker or a gunfighter, Mr. O'Connell, but I am proud of what I am. I...am a librarian.”–Evelyn Carnahan drunkenly explaining herself to Rick O'Connell., The Mummy

The last book was shelved, the last spill of a drink someone smuggled in cleaned, and the dust of chips wiped off tables. Finally, she was able to relax. Not that her job was particularly stressful, mind you, not when she enjoyed it as much as she did, but the full silence of the building once the rest of the staff had left was peaceful. It was oddly inviting, really.

Dropping the damp cloth in the bin, she rubbed the small of her back and gave way to a wince-inducing stretch before looking around the room. There was a comfort in the dimming light coming through the windows, and the smell of the books and wood of the old building mixing with the fading scent of furniture cleaner. Crossing the room, she sank onto an armchair and reached for a book, settling in to read for a while before she locked up to head home. Running a finger down the page, her lips parted as she read on, mouthing the words to herself as her free hand lifted to push her glasses higher up the bridge of her nose. Mummies, curses, near-apocalyptic chaos...she lost herself in a world that would never occur beyond her imagination.

A pity, that.... reality was so mundane.

It's been a long, long time since I remembered to blog. With a tiny bit more free time now, I've decided to actually make an effort to post at least once a week, most likely just sharing what I already have in my inventory, and a few extra things here and there.
Of course, we all know I've said this before, and I have been terrible with follow through. We'll see if I can actually keep my word this time.

Real Talk: Lymphedema

What is lymphedema?

Lymphedema is medical condition that is incurable, but can be treated. When lymphedema is mentioned, most people equate it with cancer, which is correct, as it happens to people with cancer a lot, some symptoms even beginning before they have surgery (which I learned from actress Kathy Bates when she spoke on the show The Doctors). However, lymphedema can also occur without someone having cancer; through injuries, trauma, or congenital defects that exist in the lymphatic system.

From information I gleaned from LTA, when the problem gets bad enough the lymph fluid will be more than the system can move, and swelling will begin because of the build up of protein-rich fluid collecting in the tissue in the affected area. The site goes on to explain that there are two types of lymphedema: primary and secondary. Primary is the kind that is present from birth, or it can develop when puberty begins, but it can also wait until adulthood to present. These are called congenital, praecox, and tarda respectively. Secondary lymphedema occurs when surgery, radiation, cancer treatments, trauma, or injuries that either damage or completely remove lymph nodes or vessels.

It is important to seek treatment for lymphedema immediately, from a doctor or physical therapist trained in this area. Sadly, I am learning on a personal level that not a lot of people in the medical field know much about lymphedema, save for those that treat cancer patients, and are not really capable of diagnosing it. If it isn't treated, is poorly treated, or is treated incorrectly under the assumption that it is something else, it can lead to infections, dis-figuration, pain, and disability. According to the LTA site, it can also prove fatal in the long term.

How do doctors or physical therapists treat lymphedema?

The answer is Complete De-congestive Therapy, or CDT, which is the standard care for the condition. This treatment, according to BreastCancer.org, started in Europe and Australia, but is now becoming used more and more here in the US. While the BreastCancer.org site states that there are two phases to treatment; Reductive and Maintenance, the LTA site says they are called Acute and Ongoing (so you will probably see all of those terms used) and expands on there being four elements to treatment - manual lymph drainage, compression therapy, lymph drainage exercises, and skin care. Manual lymph drainage is fairly self-explanatory; the use of the hands to massage the affected area to promote the draining of the lymph fluid that has pooled in the affected area. Compression therapy is a series of wraps, usually three or four layers, but there can be more, to help 'squeeze' the fluid up and away from the affected area and send it on to where it would be heading in a healthy, non-lymphedema body. Lymph drainage exercises are exercises the patient is taught to help keep the lymph fluid on the move, and skin care is necessary to make certain the area doesn't get dry, cracked, or injured through the use of lotions, keeping the area protected from cuts and bruises, and keeping the area dry (aside from the use of lotions), especially when wraps are being used. Never get the compression tools wet while wearing them! When this treatment is successful, and the affected area's swelling is under control, one would have to obtain permanent compression garments, and depending on the level of severity of the lymphedema, may have to wear them daily, only removing them for showers...or may only have to wear them during daily activities such as work, the gym, and so on. Some may even only have to, at least eventually, wear them a few hours out of the day, or even only have to wear them a few days a week. They still have to be cautious, however, because neglect could cause them to have to return to the therapist or doctor to begin the treatments over again.

Now, there are those, as mentioned previously, that go a while without knowing they have lymphedema, or may never even know that's what it is. This is where my reason for writing this post comes in. When I was in high school, I fell over something. While it wasn't too painful, mostly just itchy, I had gained a scrap on my lower left leg that became infected. I got something called impetigo. I had it explained to me then as an infection in the blood, which got in through the scrap, probably from the older steamer trunk of my great-grandmother's I had tripped over in the dark. Being the stubborn teen I was, I figured a bandage and some Neosporin, and it would go away like anything else...as least until the itching became unbearable and I showed it to my mother, who discovered red lines extending partially up my calf from the scrap. My family doctor was the one that filled us in on it being impetigo and gave me an ointment and some antibiotic pills to take. It cleared up, of course, and I forgot about it, aside from a slightly scarred spot on my leg.

I still cannot say with 100% certainty that this was when my lymphedema issues began, but it seems possible, now. I had no further issues with my leg until around 2006, six years after I got out of high school. I began to notice my feet and legs, though mostly just my feet, would swell and stay that way for extended periods of time. I had to start wearing men's sandals in the summer and around my apartment because my sneakers were uncomfortable. In colder months, I just had to tie them loosely and wear longer pants to cover up just how swollen they would get. Then, one day I was at work, or rather on a break eating some supper, and I felt a little off. By the time I got back into work from said break, I was alternating between hot and cold and felt dizzy. My manager stated that I looked pale, and I felt like I was going to pass out. She had me lie down and my father was called. He came to get me and had to help me out of the building, taking me home so he could go get my mother to go pick up my car and bring it to my apartment. My boyfriend then arrived some time later and told my parents he would stay the night, which he did, in case I needed someone. Later that night, I woke up feeling as if there were dozens of knives being stabbed into my left calf. When he looked at it, it was very red and swollen, and had the beginning of sores. At that time, he had taken me to the local ER, and they decided it was a bite of some kind, and sent me home with a prescription he had to go fill for me. Over that next week, I couldn't go to work, and I lay in bed in pain, waking to eat a little and take medicine. When I recovered, I went back to work and, aside from still having the swelling in both lower legs and feet, my life went back to normal.

Fast forward to 2012-13 (I get a bit blurry on the exact year now) and everything is still swollen, but manageable. It's just a common thing in my life, as I do have other relatives who have swollen legs and feet. Water gain, I was always told. I acted on the assumption that was all I had. Then, however, it happened again. I woke up one morning feeling absolutely freezing, despite the room not being cold. In moments, I was burning up, and then freezing again. I went to another ER, as I lived in another town now. I still live there, but I digress. The doctor there told me it was most likely a bladder infection that was making me feel ill, and sent me home with a prescription. I went to sleep once I got home, and again...a few hours later, woke up with that familiar knife-stabbing pain in my left leg. This time, it was more red, swollen, and actually had places forming that looked almost blister-like. Back to the ER, where they looked it over and said it was cellulitis. I was given an IV and kept there until the bag emptied, then sent back home. I was told at first to put a hot compress on it and to keep it elevated, but that didn't work...and then I was told to use a cold compress, never a hot one. It took a long time, and barely being able to stand because I felt like I had pins and needles stabbed into me every time I moved. I had to have help getting up and moving about, at least until everything finally got to some semblance of normalcy.

That didn't last, however. From that point on, I began years of re-occurrences, and more trips to the ER to be told it was cellulitis. After a while, I felt it couldn't be that, or at least, not JUST that, and I became discouraged and made my error; I stopped seeking help. I began to just lie in bed a lot, and when it wasn't as painful, I worked. It was always at the very least an ache, and standing for long periods was difficult. My work required standing and moving around constantly, and in the end I had a bit of a meltdown at work that resulted in a panic attack (which was due to things outside of just my leg, but that is another matter entirely). I went home, with help, refusing an ambulance ride someone had called in. I didn't go to the ER, and I returned to work the next week, and realized I just couldn't keep up anymore. I put in a resignation and stayed at home. I should mention that during all of this time, I would have sores on my legs, which the ER had said (before I stopped going) were just part of the cellulitis, and I had looked up cellulitis and seen pictures online that supported that. I was convinced that's all I had, even if I couldn't explain why that caused my right leg and foot to be swollen as well.

At the beginning of 2016, I had another onset of cellulitis, this time so severe that it was actually weeping clear fluid that soaked through my sock and pant leg, and I was back to the ER for the first time in a while. That visit led to a night and day checked into the hospital with IV bags constantly being changed out, and then I went back home. I broke down sometime after that and went to a doctor's office. After sitting in the room waiting on the doctor for a few moments, she came in...and one look at my leg and some light touches told her what she needed to know.

"This is lymphedema."

I had no idea what that meant, but the 'lymph' part set off bells in my head, equating it with cancer. Obviously, that worried me. I have a family history of cancer. She quelled that thought and explained to me that I needed to see a specialist for this, starting with wound care and then an actual therapist the specialized in lymphedema treatments. She made some calls, and found someone she knew of, named Morgan, and told me to contact one of the places she worked out of to set up an appointment. After I left there, I felt some relief, but then came a bit of accidental placement with one of Morgan's coworkers in a building in another town that was strictly for cancer patients. Once that was straightened out, I was sent to a hospital in my hometown, and began to see the doctor in charge of the wound care center. I had to go to them first to heal up at least the majority of the open, still slightly weeping sores. This was cellulitis, but it wasn't being healed up because of the lymphedema. There was too much fluid pooled in my lower legs. After several weeks, which felt like more months than it probably was, and a lot of medicated wraps and progression photos (Yes, I have photos...but trust me, you don't want to see them.) I was finally able to start seeing Morgan. She started my treatment of manual lymph drainage and compression wraps. She saw me two times a week for most of this year, and we've gone down to once a week now. In the beginning, I didn't have to worry with doing the wraps at home, since she saw me so often, but now when they loosen between visits, they can be re-wrapped until I see her again. Not quite sure what I'd do without her, really.

Unfortunately, the wound problem has never fully gone away, and it is currently back with a vengeance. The wound care doctor saw me again, and we are now on a second type of medicated wrappings on my left leg, while my right remains in the regular compression wraps. My right leg is pretty much ready to be placed in a compression garment that I will wear for the rest of my life, but my left leg is still a swollen, wounded work in progress. We have not been able to figure out as of yet what causes the wounds to continue to come back despite all things tried, and I will not be able to use a compression garment on that leg, or stop coming in for treatments weekly until that can finally be put to an end. I have a lifelong road ahead of me.

I cannot work, and I walk with a cane to support my left leg a little more, and I take some medication for the pain...as well as some antibiotics to try and help facilitate the wound care, for now. There may be a day where I can work again, but it may be far off, as I have to wear 'air boots', those things people normally wear over a cast, and no job I am qualified for would be safe to do with open toed shoes.

This was the longest post I think I've ever made on a blog to date, but I felt like it was time to ramble this out. It's now a little after 7:30am where I live, but I can honestly say I feel good to have gotten this out.

I am going to place some links below that go into more information on lymphedema, in hopes that people will educate themselves. This is, sadly, something that affects an estimated 3 to 5 million men, women, and children in just the US alone, and as I've explained, not just those who have gone through cancer treatments. It is also one of the least mentioned or funded through events, nonprofits, and the like. It isn't, as some can crudely put it, a 'glamorous' disease.

I can certainly attest to the lack of glamour.

UAC Medieval Faire 2016 - Part Two

The UAC Medieval Faire will be over very soon! If you aren't familiar with what I'm talking about, see my previous blog post here:Press Release: 2nd Annual Medieval Faire! As I said in my last post, I was behind due to some things going on before the Faire kicked off, so I am just as behind.

Today I am blogging the offerings from The Annex, God Mod, and a little something from Jinx.

The Annex has placed out a dress called Giselle. The three colors here are black, brick, and brown. Designed as a long sleeved shirt with a strappy, wide-belted dress, it will work alright in medieval sims, especially in areas that are not 'high society' and I can see it working well in other sims as well.

And now we have God Mod's gypsy dresses, which are called Heath, Orchard, and Highland, respectively. As someone that likes gypsy-related clothes and even some roleplay, I was happy to see something I could wear with my gypsy style hair (which I rarely get to use) and now have something for when I find time to dive back into the SL roleplay community.

For our last item, I chose a little hawk pet from Jinx. Now, admittedly, I already own this, as it isn't the exclusive Jinx has put out at the Medieval Faire, but I have always wanted a collection of birds of prey in SL to carry on my arm, so this was a  must-have for me. So, if you are like me and want a bad ass bird on your arm, go grab it at the Medieval Faire...but if you miss it there, you can buy it in the store!

And this concludes my posts on the Medieval Faire, so if you want to get in and buy some things for a great cause, click here: UAC Medieval Faire, but you'll have to hurry because time is definitely ticking away!

UAC Medieval Faire 2016 - Part One

The UAC Medieval Faire began this weekend. If you aren't familiar with what I'm talking about, see my previous blog post here:Press Release: 2nd Annual Medieval Faire and get caught up! I myself am a bit late, as I had so much going on leading up to the event, I barely had time to stop and breathe..so we can all just be behind together.

Today I am blogging the offerings from Beyond Persuasion and Kaerri.

Beyond Persuasion has two dresses; Berengaria and Isabella...but for the purposes of this blog (and to lead you to the Faire to go look for yourself!) I am only showing you Isabella. I thought the soft tones of the dress fit in nicely in the cloister, although on second glance perhaps wearing a hood would have worked far better, as I seem to recall women didn't go into holy areas with their heads uncovered! Oops.

The cloister Kaerri has created offers a chance at building your own calm, peaceful garden reminiscent of the medieval gardens one would expect to see at a church or perhaps at a nunnery. With a nice bench to settle on and contemplate the world while listening to the soft babble of the fountain behind you, it gives a quiet atmosphere for further reflection, or just to simply drink in the silence.

I will have my part two of this up later on, so check back...but in the meantime, click here: UAC Medieval Faire to head down to the faire and see these items for yourself!

A Selfish Post? Maybe.

Today I am sharing an image I took this past week of an outfit and some ankle boots I worked on as I try to recreate my store, and actually do something I can only hope is worthwhile on some level.

It's been a challenge to fit in working on the store while also working on an SL wedding (not mine, I assure you) and working with an SL modeling agency as the Executive Assistant/landscaper/all around pain in the arse.

Add to that the fact that my leg is screwing up again (I'm trying my damnedest to avoid another hospital stay) and I've been medicating and lying in bed a lot, the challenge is even greater.

Fun times.

At any rate, I have made the effort to drag myself out of the bed and make a post here at 8:00AM, and then I'll try to get into SL for the first time in a couple of days (I think, I've lost track of time) and push myself back into more creating and catching up on any work I've fallen behind on.

The outfit I made comes in five colors, and is already up for sale in world (I still have to do the marketplace links. Ugh), but I have put up a blog post here [I really need to find a blogger for this store blog, I can't keep up with this and everything else I do]  that shows the vendor ads for each color. I called it Cozy Days, because I am terrible with naming stuff. The ankle boots are for SLink high feet, and they come in 12 different colors. I named then Jen boots, after a friend. They know who they are, most likely.

The image on this post will only show the Blue/Grey colored outfit in Cozy Days, as well as the Rain version of the Jen boots.

As an aside, I added the shadow on the ground via Photoshop, using a tutorial from Daeberethwen Arbenlow, which you can watch here.

...though I admit I had to make a duplicate layer of my image and erase everything around the body to do it, and I still need to polish up on making shadows better, but everyone has to start somewhere. (Thanks to Dae for making the video!)

Come Live With Me And Be My Love

Come live with me and be my love,

And we will all the pleasures prove,

That Valleys, groves, hills, and fields,

Woods, or steepy mountain yields.

And we will sit upon the Rocks,

Seeing the Shepherds feed their flocks,

By shallow Rivers to whose falls

Melodious birds sing Madrigals.

And I will make thee beds of Roses

And a thousand fragrant posies,

A cap of flowers, and a kirtle

Embroidered all with leaves of Myrtle;

A gown made of the finest wool

Which from our pretty Lambs we pull;

Fair lined slippers for the cold,

With buckles of the purest gold;

A belt of straw and Ivy buds,

With Coral clasps and Amber studs:

And if these pleasures may thee move,

Come live with me, and be my love.

The Shepherds’ Swains shall dance and sing

For thy delight each May-morning:

If these delights thy mind may move,

Then live with me, and be my love.
- Christopher Marlowe

A lovely poem, isn't it? The title is 'The Passionate Shepherd to His Love', and it was written in the mid-to-late 1580s by Christopher Marlowe. After taking photos of Roawenwood's release for The Gacha Guardians and sitting here looking at an empty blog post, the first line of this poem sprang to mind, and I thought it would be a nice addition to this post.
Roawenwood's release is called 'Say You Will' and is a lovers' proposal set with a pallet style couch, two tents in either white or stripes, various lanterns, candles, rose petals, trees, a vase, and a lovers' dance heart. As all of this is meant for an outdoor proposal, you can see how my mind tied it in with a shepherd's passionate plea to his love (or if you don't, obviously shepherds spend a lot of time outside!).

If you haven't had the chance to go through The Gacha Guardians, I highly recommend doing so, as there as some very nice things out there, and you have the chance to get special prizes at the end. If you are interested in learning more while there's still time, visit the website here, or just click the name above to go to the starting point at Bella Gacha.

To Catch A Potato Thief

So there was a photo challenge issued on Plurk, and it lead a list of people assigned to partner up for a photo shoot together of any theme. These photos, once done, would be placed in the Flickr group, Nigel's Mixed Nuts. I've been so extremely slack on my blog postings for a long, long time now...that I decided I would share my photos here, as well as on Flickr.

For the January round of these challenges, I was fortunate to be paired with someone I've been friends with for a long time, Loki. Now, if you haven't seen Loki's Flickr stream, then you should...because he takes amazing photos. Even if you aren't interested, you should still go look, because Loki deserves the views in honor of the pesky potato attacks I've launched on him, forever. Poor guy.

Also, if you don't look at his Flickr stream, you'll miss his photos from the same shoot, which will undoubtedly be a million times better than mine.

Anywho, on to the photos!

Planet Earth Is (Always) Blue

For the majority of the week, so long that I can't even remember the exact day I went in now, I was in the hospital. IVs, blood work pretty much daily, bad hospital food (and sometimes a lack of), the whole nine yards...so my week was already pretty lousy.

And then I woke up early on January 11th (according to my Plurk timestamp) and saw that the world had fallen down.

Mine stopped.

David Bowie. I refused to believe it. He had just put out an album, Blackstar, and I had not too long before that made a Plurk about his 69th birthday. Suddenly, the Thin White Duke, our Star Man...our Goblin King, our slightly insane lad from Brixton, was gone.

It hit hard. Perhaps harder than it should have, to an outsider.

I was always 'weird', a misfit...someone who definitely didn't fit in as well as anyone else around my peers here in South Carolina. I probably still don't, although I find I don't really dwell on it as much as I did in my younger days.

I found solace in music, movies...books. There were a lot of books and music. One day, I got to sit and watch Labyrinth, and I saw this man with wild hair and a singing voice that blew my young mind away. I was hooked, and I think I even found my first crush. He was a misfit, a weirdo....he was like me. He was a better version, of course, and I came to revere that. He took what I (and so many others) felt, and still feel...and he embraced it, and he made the world stand up and take notice. Through him, being 'weird' was suddenly...okay. It was more than okay, it was celebrated. Sure, there were haters, as no one can escape that, but they just didn't matter...they could have their opinions.

He made us belong, even if it was just amongst ourselves. He was our Duke, and we adored him.

But now he has departed this earth. He has gone home, and planet Earth truly is blue.

I know I am.

Thank you, David, our Thin White Duke....
thank you.

Thank you for making this weirdo misfit from the south feel like she had a place, even if she hasn't completely settled into it yet.

...our stars will look different forever, because you are now among them.

Shine on, you brilliant man.

 The Goods:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Another blow to my heart; Alan Rickman. I am not even sure what to say right now.

He was amazing, and like David, far too young to be gone.

He showed us pure talent, and with a grace and charm that will never be matched again. He never played a villain, he play interesting people, and that was his opinion. It was mine as well.

He leaves a hole in this world that will never be filled.

Hans Gruber. Elliot Marston. Sheriff of Nottingham. Colonel Brandon. Metatron. Alexander Dane. Severus Snape. ..down to his last (upcoming role reprisal) as the voice of the Blue Caterpillar in Alice Through the Looking Glass...he will be remembered and cherished.

Raise your wands, Potter fans. Raise them high.

For everyone else...raise your glass, your lighters..hell, raise your cell phone flashlight.

Stuffery Moves Again!

Hello, hello! I'm getting a bit tired of all this blog moving, but here we are, back on Blogger after years of not using it. I thought about using Wordpress as I've been doing, but after thinking it over, I decided this was what I wanted to try out (again). In the links on this page, you will see that I've linked two separate archives, from Stuffery.net and from the original blog, Stuffery.crashthemode.net. I've moved both archives to the Wordpress site, but as I don't think it's possible to combine two blogs, I had to make two. Sadly, some of the images are missing, and I don't seem to have all of them on my computer as I thought I did, so I'm having to search for some and see if Kaija has hers still. It may be a long process, but I'm working on it.
For the time being, Kaija and Co have retired from blogging, so it'll just be me. Of course, if she chooses to return or just blog on occasion for kicks, she knows she's free to do so. Who knows, she may pop up again soon...or months down the line! At any rate, so this post wouldn't be devoid of images, I put up my new profile image, as I'm kind of happy with how it turned out...even if the background seems a tiny bit blurry. In the coming days/weeks/months/years, hopefully, I'll be here on Blogger and not have to jump to anything else again, because maintaining a domain name was just becoming a hassle when most services jump up to over $100.00 USD after a year for the server space and domain, and I'm just not willing to keep doing that! Charging a little over $35 for a year for it all was awesome, but the sudden jump in price is just too much for a not-for-profit blog.

Anywho! I'll be posting up some more stuff later on! Ciao!

Inventory Madness

Jenica over at Hey Girlfriend! gave me the idea of sharing photos of things I have in my inventory, so I thought I would attempt it. Sadly, my computer is pretty consistent with making the edges of every photo I take pixellated despite all attempts at fixing it, so I'm tinkering around with smoothing them out in Photoshop...and the results give me mixed emotions.

Since Jenica gave me the idea, I totally went over and stole her house for the photos.

All that aside, here's the first round of Inventory Madness.
Clothing:
- Shirt (Tres Blah - Seasons Hunt)
- Shorts (Moonshine Designs - pretty old, and I think the store name was different)
- Shoes (friday)
- Hair (Truth)
- Skin (Belleza)
- Eyes (Negaposi)

Stuff in the House o' Jeni:
- Chair (Cheeky Pea)
- Fireplace and most of the stuff around it (What Next)
- Pet Bed (Cheeky Pea)
- Curtain (North West - Seasons Hunt)
- House (L2 Studio)
More to come!

Fascination!

I was wandering around, hitting spots in the Stash Bash Hunt, which I may take photos of later, when I came upon the Off the Wall sim...and my brain went, "Ooohhh colors!" and I began to snap off shots. Even on the lowest settings in SL ever, I think they came out decently.
and then after I got through with my adventure in that funky wonderland of dancing gummi bears and Santas, I came home to an Anonymous attack. D:
What an odd day.

The Wonderful World of Meeroos!

So, we got out beta HUDs for the meeroos recently...and now we have our beta meeroos. These little critters are so bloody cute, I think I may implode.

I birthed one of them immediately, and then snapped off a photo of him alone, and then with the gear that came with him.

Love him. Love him now.

 He woke up!

A League of Our Own

I'm slowly making my way through this round's Project Themeory stores, and the 50L Friday ones as well. My first stop for this blog entry was League. I love League, so much so that I have a folder dedicated to nothing but League.

I swooped in and headed over to that magical far right wall from the entrance and pounced on the Project Themeory item - Boho Legwarmers, and then had a gleeful moment when I saw the Merino Leggings and Flats sets. I chose the color Old Lavender, then grabbed the Ribbon Tied Tanktop in Wisteria above that. I decided to put all of that on right there in the store, pairing it with my League Booty Shorts in Dark Blue. Once home, I popped onto my little :GAUGED: Photo Studio (an old Project Themeory gift) and snapped off a few shots.
Booty Shorts in Dark Blue from League
Ribbon Tied Tanktop in Wistera from League
Merino Leggings & Flats in Old Lavender from League
Boho Legwarmers from League (Project Themeory-Mismatch[Multi Wool])
Hair from Maitreya (Moon)
Skin from Belleza (Alyson)
Eyes from Negaposi (Mystic Eyes)

Then the fact that I haven't been to sleep yet and it's now 6:00 AM EST began to hit me like a sack of bricks...so I shall work on the rest of the photos later!

Toes, I Has Them!

One of the things that has bugged me about SL since 2006 is the lack of toes on avatars. They look bad, and I've usually avoided open toed shoes for that fact.

Til now!

I was informed of a place called J's Main Shop, and I went to investigate the shoe quality, and found toes! Real toe shapes! I was floored, and immediately bought some black open toed heels. It doesn't take much to amuse me. Also, I demand that everyone go buy some of these! Only $350L! There are far too many cute shoes and boots there. I may end up going broke in this store.
